This service is designed to review and correct translations for accuracy in meaning, word usage, grammar, and phrasing by comparing them to the original text.

  • 1. All proofreading services commence after the client approves the price estimate.
  • 2. Orders received after 17:00 will be counted as having been requested the following business day.
  • 3. Because no proofreading is provided on weekends and public holidays, the number of those non-business days must be excluded when estimating the date of completion.
Process of Work

Service Request
  • 1. In order to request a service, log in to the KAIST Language Center homepage and register. Then fill out the information on the comparison proofreading request page and attach the file for the service.
  • 2. MS Word and HWP formats are recommended. Special symbols cannot be used in the file name. (Please contact the Language Center via email or phone if you use programs other(HWP, PDF, and etc) than MS Word: language@kaist.ac.kr or 042-350-8731.)
  • 3. The attachment of a glossary of words in relation with the documents will be helpful for speedy and more accurate services.
  • 4. Comparison proofreading will not continue for documents with excessive errors in translation when compared to the original text, and accordingly translation service may be recommended instead.
  • 5. Upon placing an order, clients will receive a price estimate by email, and proofreading will begin only after the client approves the estimate. All notifications regarding the process as well as final completed work will be delivered through email and can be found on the MY PAGE of homepage
Rate of Comparison Proofreading
  • 1. Any decimal will be rounded to one when counting the number of pages. Any document with the number of characters short of being equal to one page will be calculated as one page.
  • 2. For documents in non-standard formats (e.g. PDF, PPT), 25 lines will be equal to one page, and the service will commence after confirmation with the Language Center.
Korean to English : A total of 800 Korean characters in the original text (excluding blanks) will be equal to one page.

Information Regarding Payment for Translation

- You will be able to download the completed file after payment is confirmed.
- After making the deposit, please contact the Language Center by telephone or email for speedy processing.

Account Transfer KAIST Only Please contact the person in charge at each department and/or lab regarding the possibility of utilizing the account transfer method or information.
- Account transfer is not available for RCMS projects or EZBARO projects.
Tax Invoice External Client Only - Clients may download the file immediately after proofreading is completed. The tax invoice will be sent in 1-2 days by email.

- Credit card payment is available only on the Internet.
  • Cancelation of Comparison Proofreading and Changing a file
  • Regardless of the initial date of application, if you cancel or change a file that you have already requested, you will be responsible for the costs incurred by parts already translated. Cancellation and change procedures can be made by telephone only, please contact the person in charge.(Tel. 042-350-8731)
  • Guaranteed for re-proofreading/translation
  • 1. If all following requirements meet.
    - The official reviewer’s comment should be presented.
    - The document finally submitted must be identical to the proofread document.
    - The service must be requested within 3 years of the original KAIST Language Center translating date of completion.
    - The same translator must offer the service.
  • 2. Other reason for re-proofreading: If the proofreader evidently made mistakes.
  • 3. Process: The service begins immediately after evidentiary documents are received by email (language@kaist.ac.kr).
    * Documents required: Name (client), date of service, service number, original file submitted to the journal, letter from the journal with English comments
  • Document storage period and issuance of certificates
  • Documents will be stored for three years from the date of completion, and translation certificates may be issued for the same period.
