KAIST Language Center operates Online Korean Language Camps to help international students gain basic communication skills in Korean prior to the start of studies to facilitate adjustment to the studies and research environment and build a foundation for cooperation in research.

Schedule of Korean Language Camp
  • Period
    • 1st Session: June 16, 2025 – July 17, 2025 (5 weeks, 24 days)
    • 2nd Session: Jul 14, 2025 – Aug 14, 2025 (5 weeks, 24 days)
  • Lesson time : 6:30 PM – 10:20 PM (Korean time)
    • Lesson times may be adjusted depending on the participants’ locations.
  • Method : Real-time online lectures (using ZOOM)
Camp registration
  • Target : International students being admitted to graduate studies at KAIST in the Fall semester of 2025
  • Application period :
    • Early admission successful candidates: May 20 to May 30, 2025
    • Regular admission successful candidates (Early track candidates included): June 20 to June 30, 2025

  • Tuition fee : KRW 1,000,000

  • Please sign up on the Language Center website, and log in through the "Non-KAIST Members login" for course registration, as you will be participating in the Korean language camp before the start of the Fall semester.
Level test and student assessments
  • Method : Individual assessments
  • Content : The level test for class assignment assesses speaking abilities while improvements in the respective areas are assessed through task performance abilities and the TOPIK test at the time of program completion
Requirements for camp completion
  • Minimum of 80% attendance in language and culture lessons respectively
  • Minimum overall grade of 70% (Assignments, class participation/attitude, quizzes, mid-term/end of term exams)
  • A certificate in the name of the Director of KAIST Language Center will be issued upon program completion.

  • Goal : Obtaining TOPIK Grade 1
  • Hours : 100 hours

      Language lessons: 80 hours (4 hours/day), Culture lessons : 20 hours (5 hours/day)

    • When transferring tuition fees from overseas, a difference in the final sum may arise from bank fees and exchange rates. The bank fee is to be paid by the student and the difference must be paid as soon as possible.
Refund regulations : Students who wish to cancel their registration must submit an application to the KAIST Language Center office and the sum refunded is as follows.
  • Full refund for cancellations before the course starts.
  • 2/3 refund for cancellations made before 1/3 of the course duration (excluding the 1/3 point itself).
  • 1/2 refund for cancellations made before 1/2 of the course duration (excluding the 1/2 point itself).
  • No refund for cancellations made after 1/2 of the course duration (including the 1/2 point itself).
  • If you cancel on the day of the class, that day's class will be considered attended, and the refund amount will be calculated accordingly.
  • Transfer fees incurred during the refund process are borne by the student
